I first dived with Aqua-Marina 4 years ago and took my PADI open and advanced open water qualifications and enjoyed the courses so much I took the Nitrox certification as well. Ray, who was involved in all my courses, has probably 8000 dives or more under his belt, is still enthusiastic and makes it really enjoyable. The instructors, all very friendly and knowledgeable, didn't make you feel as if you were in for a long slog. The material was delivered to you in the best way for you. My daughter who was 14 at the time did her open water and loved it. This, the second time around, was purely for pleasure. I booked a dive package of 7 dives including cylinder and weights. I could have hired from the extensive equipment they offer (wetsuits etc. torches, dive computers, cameras ....) but I prefer to drag my own with me. There are a number of dive sites locally that are easily accessible by RIB. The very experienced skipper (who stays permanently in it to provide surface cover when you're diving) knows exactly where you want to be to get the best from your dives. There are a number of photos for Palmar caves, Meridian wreck etc. on his site for you to see. The guides (who must see the same sites numerous times a year) still make it interesting, gave thorough briefings and knew where they usually found the best places to take video and photos. Sandra even took the time to give me some tips to help with my diving. The dive centre had moved location since my first visit and has great all round facilities in a well lit and spacious location. The owners Madge and Steve are still there and have kept the same high standards I found 4 years ago. The instructors I believe are PADI and BSAC qualified. They offer many courses from the initial through to TEC and also provide accelerated decompression. On each occasion I noticed that there have been an number of interns preparing for divemaster and instructor qualifications, gaining from the vast experience that their instructors have. When I asked why they chose this company for their internship the answers always come back with the friendly, informative and thorough training. I hope it won't be as long before my next dives with Aqua marina. I was happy to find the second time around just as good as the first.
