Finey Thila is a dive site located 250 meters south of Finey island in Haa Dhaalu atoll in Maldives and is made of two blocks. The main block on the east side starting at 12m and the smaller western block both present many overhangs, mostly on the southern part of the thila. They host soft corals and many species such as soldier fish, squirrelfish, stingrays, nudibranchs, trevallies, tunas and fusiliers.
The water entry is done upstream in the current, distant from the thila, and a fast descent will be necessary during strong current.
Then, divers usually start at the split point when the current is coming from the west or hold up on the upper reef when the current is coming from the east. Next, divers drift along the south wall where the many overhangs are worth observing, especially around the western pinnacle.
This dive site is accessible throughout the year, but is particularly interesting during southwest monsoon. It is recommended for advanced divers with a good experience in the current only, and used to fast descents.
